HI6008 Tutorial Week 5 Solution
HI6008 Tutorial Week 5 Solution Research Questions This research was undertaken to assess the current state of SISP implementation in Australia and theoretically develop and empirically test a measurement model of the progress of the SISP and in particular, the study aims to answer the following main research questions: What is the degree of maturity and how adaptable to external and internal environmental pressure is Strategic Information System Planning in Australian organizations? What are the best practices in measurement of SISP implementation and how successful is measurement in Australian organizations? Secondary research questions are: Which of the applied approaches best contribute to the likelihood of the SISP plan being implemented successfully and what is the time invariant SISP patterns across the industry? What SISP objectives are, and to what extent are they accomplished and how sustainable are they? To what degree old theoretical approaches are still in use or abandoned due to the impact of the internet and other environmental changes and how critical is the need for new approaches? How relevant is SISP theory to practitioners requirements and does implementation of a specific SISP theory bring more satisfaction than not using a specific SISP method? To what extent is theoretical correlation among SISP implementation success factors still valid and what is their change imperative? To what extent is SISP part of business strategy and how do the business managers perceptions of the SISP importance vary over time in an organisation and across industry? What are companies doing to measure and communicate their SISP results? Does measuring of SISP performance make a difference? To what degree is contemporary metrics for measuring tangible and non-tangible SISP performance utilised? These questions are approached through: Collecting the results of the observer case study of SISP projects in four large Australian organizations Preparing and conducting a large scale questionnaire survey of small, medium and large Australian organizations Analyzing data collected through conducted surveys and case studies using contemporary statistical or fuzzy logic models A review and analysis of literature relevant to the subject An analysis of findings of previous SISP surveys and case studies in Australia reported in the literature Development of a new SISP framework Potential Hypothesis: H1: As SISP evolves towards higher maturity levels, the level of SISP benefits will increase. H2: The existence of a formal approach to SISP planning will have a favourable effect on the overall success of SISP. H3: As the level of SISP maturity increases, the need for formal (packaged) methodologies decreases. H4: As the level of SISP maturity increases, the alignment between the strategic information systems plan and the business plan increases. H5: If SISP is initiated by a senior business manager and an IS management coalition, it will be more successful. H6: As seniormanagement commitment towards SISP increases, SISP success increases. H7: As awareness towards cultural issues and other causes of resistance increases, SISP success increases. H8: A more skilful SISP team produces more successful SISP. H9: Regular change reviews will positively influence the success of SISP. H10 The more mature SISP, the more satisfaction is obtained with the accomplishment of SISP measurement objectives H11: The more mature SISP is, the more the impact of external environmental factors is considered.
